Back in 2019, Insta360 crammed 360-degree camera image stabilization technology into a thumb-sized 1080p action camera/lifelogger called the Go. More features have been added for 2021, and now the vastly improved Go 3 has been unveiled.

The Go 3 is still smaller than your thumb, but has increased in weight from 0.65 ounces (18.3 grams) in the original, to 0.9 ounces (26.5 grams) in the second-generation model, to 1.25 ounces (35.5 grams) in the current model.

Perhaps more welcome is the increased video resolution from the Go 2’s 1,440p to 2.7K at 30 frames per second, up from 1080p in the original Go, and the enhanced software is said to help ” Delivers clear, vibrant video.”

Dropping to Full HD allows 120 fps slow motion to take center stage. Unavoidable camera shake during action scenes or run captures is kept under control thanks to Insta360’s acclaimed FlowState image stabilization technology. The battery capacity has been increased to 310 mAh, allowing for up to 45 minutes of shooting per charge. The camera boasts dual microphones for improved audio capture, as well as hands-free voice control.

New recording modes include pre-recording, loop recording and timed capture. There’s also a mode that allows for different aspect ratios to be changed after recording, so users can resize the same clip to upload to Instagram in 9:16 and YouTube in 16:9.

The Go 3’s magnetic body offers multiple placement opportunities, including hanging from a chest-height pendant for first-person POV life recording. There’s also a clip accessory to attach the tiny action camera to headgear, and a pivot mount to accommodate tricky angles. A tripod mount is also included for use with the selfie stick. Thanks to its IPX8 sealing, this tiny camera can shoot while swimming, or submerged to a depth of 16 feet (5 m).

Insta360 bolsters the standalone device by adding a 3.4-ounce (96.3-gram) companion accessory called the Action Pod, which brings a 2.2-inch flip-out touchscreen to the party along with a 1,270-mAh battery bump for up to 170 minutes). The tiny camera fits inside an IPX4 waterproof Pod, or pops out and is used on its own, with the Pod acting as a Bluetooth remote.

The Insta360 Go 3 is available worldwide today for $379.99 for the 32GB model, $399.99 for the 64GB model, and $429.99 for the 128GB model. Either way, buyers get a magnet pendant, clip, mount, and lens protector. The video below has more.
