Venture capital firm Atomico predicts that the amount of venture capital invested in European startups this year will be 52% lower than in 2021. I’ve written about these findings, but we haven’t revealed a key nuance of the information: the difference between the two countries.

Despite the slowdown across Europe, Atomico noted that capital investment data from Dealroom and Crunchbase for the first half of the year showed a steeper year-on-year decline in the UK than in other major European countries.

Compared with France and Germany, which will fall by 55% and 44% respectively in the first half of 2022, the UK will fall further: 57%.
