Square has launched Tap to Pay in the US, Australia, Ireland, France, Spain and the UK, enabling sellers to accept contactless payments from their Android devices.

In September 2022, the company launched Tap to Pay on the iPhone, an effort that broadens Square’s global presence in the contactless space. Now, it opens up even more opportunities for sellers to accept payments no matter what device they use.

Using an Android device, sellers can enter their sales, present their smartphones to customers, and close the buying loop by giving them the choice of a contactless payment method — whether by credit card, debit card, or their digital wallet.

In a press release, Alexis Sowa, general manager of Square Point of Sale, said:

“Square’s goal is to make sure our sellers, no matter where they are or who they work for, never miss a sale. Our launch of Tap to Pay on Android brings a Unique technology that gives merchants an easy way to accept payments and access world-class integrated software to do business. Although Tap to Pay technology has only been available for a short time, what we’ve seen across our seller base The breadth of applications and use cases has enhanced its staying power.”

One of Square’s customers, Overhead Door Company, also noted that Tap to Pay on Android helps simplify their work, saving them time and energy in the long run. “When our technicians are done on-site, they just pull out their phone, have the customer swipe their card or phone, and move on to their next appointment. At the same time, we’re able to track our work right from our Square Dashboard All sales made by personnel on-site.”
