Now, before we start, I want to remind you of an important fact. up to 80% All jobs today are obtained through referrals. So a blind online application won’t work for you. only 3% of online applicants received a call from a recruiter or hiring manager.
The four steps I’ll outline for you will help you bypass the ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and connect with recruiters and hiring managers so you stand out as a great candidate.
So, let’s break it down…
Step 1: Inventory your skills
Bigstock
You need to take inventory of your transferable skills. These are all hard skills that will help you in your next job. You may perform some or all of these things in a future position.
Step 2: Join LinkedIn

You’ll take the transferable skills you’ve identified and make sure they’re optimized across your resume and LinkedIn profile.
Recruiters always search for these key terms when scouring potential candidates, so if you List your transferable skills on your LinkedIn profile (for example, in your LinkedIn header) You’ll improve the chances of them connecting with you and getting in touch with you about job opportunities that might be a good fit for you.
Step Three: Make a Bucket List

Next, create what’s called an interview wish list. This is a list of 10 to 20 companies that you would like to work for and hire based on your skills.
The best way to build your interview wish list is to research the companies you are associated with. Make sure you are able to commute or work remotely for these companies. If your skills match the job they’re hiring for too, then that company belongs on your interview list!
Step Four: Identify the People in Your Wishlist Company

Finally, you’ll identify the people who work at the companies on your interview wish list and use your networking connections to introduce them.
You want to be able to have a conversation with the people who are currently working at these companies. They can help you understand how to stand out in the hiring process and potentially introduce you to a hiring manager.
The most efficient way to find a new job
Which brings me back to my first point about getting company referrals. It’s the best, fastest and most efficient way to find a new job while you’re on the job Because you don’t have a full day to look for a job. Work smarter, not harder!
