What does it take to turn an obscure startup into a household name? Scalability. This is the holy grail that every early-stage startup founder is chasing. Scaling internal operations may lack the glamor of funding rounds and founder profiles, but it’s critical to a startup’s success.
Founders looking for inspiration need only look to Airbnb and Instacart. The two venerated companies have important similarities. They scaled up and each added to their initial wins: the Airbnb experience and the Instacart ad network.
We are delighted that Naba Banerjee, Director of Product and Operations at Airbnb Trust, and Asha Sharma, COO at Instacart will be joining us for a session titled How to Build a Smart Startup Operation that Scales with Your Business. You can find it on the Builders Stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2023, September 19-21 in San Francisco.
Scaling up isn’t going to be easy — if it were, every startup would be a unicorn. Both Banerjee and Sharma are consummate leaders, and their knowledge of both companies has practically turned scaling into an art form.
We look forward to hearing their personal perspectives on how to build an operation that supports and grows with your company. We will ask the following questions:
- How do you know when an employee is unable to take their team or department to the next level, and if you need to hire someone from outside?
- How do you handle cultural alignment during rapid hiring, especially in a multi-office model?
This is just for starters. If you’re looking for how-to tips and insights, you don’t want to miss this session.
