Many camper van companies are keen to revamp vehicle interiors, but Washington-based Daylodge Gear is more concerned with tidying up the exterior. The company, which started out offering inflatable awnings for campers, 4WDs, and other adventure gear, is now set to introduce the very handy Workspace kitchen bag. Like other camp kitchen organization systems, the workspace keeps items like dishes and utensils neatly organized on the ride, but it also doubles as the actual kitchen space thanks to the integrated work surface. This is a durable and modern picnic basket with a table top cover.
We’re glad we stumbled upon the Workspace, because we’ve been looking for a camp kitchen organizer and an all-in-one portable cocktail bar, and it looks like the Workspace can perform both functions better than average.
Designed for off-road and off-the-beaten-track camping, Workspace bags are constructed from the buyer’s choice of Cordura nylon or Hypalon synthetic rubber, both of which offer tough, abrasion-resistant performance. Like other camp kitchen organizers, the work area features specially designed dividers, straps and pockets for utensils, plates, cooking tools, cups, bottles and accessories. Unlike other organizers, it also features a folding side to hold the 12 x 18-inch (30.5 x 46 cm) bamboo cutting board in place like a countertop or small table.

The work area can be hung from the side of the pickup truck bed or out of the vehicle window to form a side table, like the ones you see on various campers and trailers. The system can also be mounted on level surfaces such as tailgates or picnic tables. Either way, it keeps all your cooking tools and utensils right where you need them, right behind your prep board.
Daylodge says the workspace is the first of its kind to combine organizer and desk functionality, and while hanging camp kitchen organizers abound at shows like Overland Expo, this is the first time we’ve seen a workspace with its own drop-down desk. This table also doubles as a cocktail or bar – organizer holds items such as outdoor grade wine or cocktail glasses, cocktail shaker, wine or wine bottle, mixer, corkscrew and other barware into a portable pocket minibar.

In bar mode, the cutting board is the perfect place to slice lemons or limes, mix toppings, and hold glasses steady during pours. It’s everything we’re looking for in a portable, all-in-one camper bar, but with the added advantage of being able to hang from the vehicle instead of just working from the tailgate or table. Hang it on the side of your pickup truck outside the fridge/freezer, on your bed so you can just reach for the ice cubes.

Daylodge, a small startup still working out of a residential garage, is now taking pre-orders for its Workspace soft launch. It offers an initial pre-sale of 25 workspace units priced at $199 each, each complete with multi-part organizer bags, interior organizers and pockets, bamboo cutting boards, and suspension hardware for pickup beds/Ford Bronco tailgates and SUVs and crossovers.
