Colombia’s central bank approved the transfer of just over $1.6 billion in net profits to the government on Feb. 28.
Starting in 2022 and earlier years, its total profit is close to $1.8 billion, the board said. By law, some of it is allocated to cultural events, other expenditures and the central bank’s own reserves. The rest “is national”.
These funds will be turned over to the treasury in the form of government bonds. The state budget for 2022 is $93 billion.
