Central banks use a wide range of print, broadcast and digital media to communicate with the wider public.

The 33 central banks responding to the 2022 Communications Benchmark use an average of around 10 different media formats to engage with external audiences.

All 33 central banks used press releases to communicate with the public, and all 33 central banks held press conferences. Of the 32 agencies that provided data, agencies issued an average of about 106 releases in 2021, or about two per week.
