The Reserve Bank of Australia will not place an image of Charles III on its five-dollar note, which currently features the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The RBA announced on February 2 that the notes would be replaced “with a new design honoring the culture and history of the first Australians”. It said Indigenous Australians would be consulted on the design.

The current note will remain legal tender along with the new note. The central bank issues upgraded banknotes periodically
